The mount for Direct Drive V2 has been pinned to original post.
Is the Direct Drive V2 any different from the Direct Drive that is available on 4 layer? Did Aurilio change it after making it available, or has this been the latest Direct Drive the whole time?

Also, what slicer program did you use for the 3mf files?

Direct Drive v2 is the 4layer version. Prusaslicer is what I created the 3mf's in.

I have just finished building my Ashida, and it works great, but I have a few things I am concerned about the power and battery life of the Ashida.

1. I built my Ashida with the PMS lite, and I understand that results in slightly worse battery life and worse battery life readings, but my Ashida drops maybe 1-2% a minute, and that is without any game loaded. Did I wire something up wrong or is this normal for the PMS lite?
2. I read that it was recommended to use a power supply with higher wattage for the Ashida, especially if you want to to charge and play, but even with a 45w power supply my console still drain battery, although at a much slower ~1% every 4-5 minutes. Is charge and play not possible with the PMS-Lite or is something else wrong?
3. when i unplug the charger from my Ashida, the battery reading drops roughly by 10-15%, and i don't think it will let me get to 100% because of it.

Also, when I play a game, a tiny bit of the right side of the screen is black. I don't think its dead, but rather the game did not scale correctly. Any fix for this?

I had my Ashida working for a long time. Then, one day, I powered it on and got the below error message:

RVLoader bootloader 01
Failed to initialize FAT FS! Is an USB drive plugged in?
Press A to boot into priiloader

I'll summarize my troubleshooting steps below but, to cut to the chase, does anyone have a recommendation for a good USB-to-SD CARD Adapter that definitely fits? I'm pretty sure my current one is broken and I'd like to try replacing it with a decent quality adapter since the one I currently have is a junky knock-off from Ali Express (it was the only one I could find at the time that would fit). Apologies if I've missed this information on this board. I tried searching before posting this quesiton but the only Adapter I saw mentioned doesn't seem to be for sale anywhere anymore. Thanks!

Troubleshooting Steps, So Far (In case anyone is interested):
  • Checked to see if priiloader loads
    • priiloader loads/runs just fine
  • Googled error message but didn't find any fixes that worked for my issue
  • Connected my Ashida to my computer via USB cable to see if my computer would recognize it as a USB storage device
    • The computer did not recognize the Ashida at all
  • Open up the Ashida and looked for any loose connections between the PMS-PD (rev B) and anything else
    • No loose connections found
  • Unplugged the USB-to-SD CARD Adapter from the PMS-PD and plugged it into my computer
    • The computer did not recognize the Adapter at all
  • Took the SD CARD out of the Adapter and connected it to my computer with a known-good Adapter
    • The computer DID RECOGNIZE the sd card right away and all of the files on the SD CARD looked fine (doesn't seem corrupted in any way)
  • Took a different known-good SD CARD and tried to connect it to my computer with the Adapter from the Ashida
    • The computer did not recognize the Adapter at all

I didn't find a good USB to SD adapter either, so I recommend the SanDisk Ultra Fit or the Samsung FIT Plus USB drives.

Well, I swapped out my bad SD-to-USB adapter and got somewhat strange results.

The Good:
With the new adapter, the SD card is now being read without issue when I turn on my Ashida. RVLoader boots up again, all my games show up, and I can play them with no issues.

The Bad:
Even with the new adapter, I can't get my Ashida to be recognized as a USB Device when I connect it to a computer via USB Cable. Nothing happens. (Tried multiple known-good USB Cables and Computers)

I rechecked all of the connections from my PMS PD 2 (rev B), and they all have continuity. I'm starting to worry that the issue may be with the PMS PD, itself. For what it's worth, charing the batteries via the USB C port works just fine.

Any idea why the PMS PD would work for charging and reading games, but not for connecting as a USB Device?

Beats me. I solved that same issue with a new cable, so I don’t know what your problem might be. However, the only cable I could get to work was a USBC to USBC cable. The other ones I was using were all C to A. I imagine you have already tried this, but if not, it is worth a shot.

That actually did the trick! I was testing with working USB-A to USB-C cables and it wasn’t working. Based on your suggestion, I dug up a working USB-C to USB-C cable and it worked. No clue why but as long as it works I’m good. Thanks!

Recently a friend purchased one of these portable GameCube ashidas from AliExpress, but now hes having 1 major issue.

The issue is that the right trigger is messed up. When he goes into the button tester, the left trigger works exactly perfectly, its at 0 when hes not touching it and at 255 when he's holding it all the way down. The Right trigger acts spazzy, When he lets go of it, half the time it hangs around between 1 and 4, or sometimes quickly switches between two numbers in that range. When he presses it all the way down, the very most he can force it to get to is 238. he couldn't find a way to re calibrate the controls I have yet to look at it, but i was curious if anyone might know how to fix this?

You could replace the slide potentiometers. They can be harvested from a GameCube controller or they can be found on the Ashida bill of materials and they are sold by digikey.

If someone looking for a screen protector for the Ashida I found one with 1:1 same size as the 5 inch screen from the ashida. It's from Brotect. I'm from germany and bought it from amazon, but they also sell them on Amazon US. Put it on today, looks great and now my screen is protected from scratches :-)

Is there a chance you could send a link to it?

Thank you much! I tried one of those generic plastic film screen protectors for cameras on my Ashida and it was pretty horrible, so I will try this one out!

Could anyone tell me what fan should I go for when building an Ashida? I've never built a handheld before and want to make sure I do it right. Is there any reason to choose one over the other?
