Hey! It's my first post here and also my first trim. Everything with the trim is great, no issues with NAND relocation, or bad resistances. That was until I installed the AVE-HDMI Flex, and I'm unable to get any video out whatsoever. Two kits and two Wii's with no luck. Both come to the RVLoader screen with composite video

Thing's I've verified:
- Continuity from AV Chip to Flex chip to FFC and FFC to HDMI
- All voltages are correct
- Composite video is working
- Multiple different Displays/HDMI's/Mini HDMI's
- No shorts
- Reflowed Flex Chip and FFC

I'm definitely new to this, so I'm not sure what else to check.

I've attached some pictures below, as there may be something obvious I've missed. I've been stumped on it for almost two weeks, so any help is appreciated

It's always good to install such addons before trimming to rule out any funny business. Looks like you've done all the typical troubleshooting. It's not something stupid like you've got the ribbon the wrong way around?

I wish it was but unfortunately it isn’t. I forgot to include that I removed the hdmi and installed a ave relocation and was able to get that to work just fine.

I'd suggest using thicker wire for powering the HDMI board (GND included)

The 5v supply wire is missing in that photo.

Also, did you clear the soldermask off the vias on the first Wii? It has partially tented vias, which flexes often have issues with due to low joint integrity

Yeah I've been trying it with the 5v off and on, but yes I did. I made sure they all made contact with the AV Chip before soldering too. I'm going to take a break from it for a bit and come back with a clear mind.

I remember that when I installed my kit on my non-trimmed wii I had to bridge 3v3 and Mode on the video pins... So maybe the kit itself doesn't do that by default... Maybe that's what you're missing? check continuity between the mode via and 3v3.

Yea unlike the Fujiflex, the AVE HDMI doesn't have a "MODE" solder bridge. You have to route a wire from the "MODE" via to 3V3.
Although it still should output video in 480i without it.

ah. good point. veeeery slim chance their display doesn't like 480i then (should normally display a double image or something like that in such cases, unless the driver has specific logic to detect that and stop it or some weird crap like that)... I just think it's very weird that they used 2 kits and 2 wiis and got no results. I'd normally suggest going over the vias again and maybe even check continuity between AVE pins and the appropriate pins on the Spartan but seeing how they were able to achieve a working NAND relocation, I don't think this is the case here...

Ah, you need 5v connected for it to work at all. IIRC it's a required logic reference.

Glad to hear it! Wiis sometimes just don't survive the trimming process even if you do everything right. We still don't know why this is
