The button PCB is designed. It fits in the case at the top. It holds 6 tactile buttons, the display, a thumbstick, and 2 trigger buttons.

I used EAGLE for designing the PCB. The indent in the bottom is to allow for more vertical room for the charging port.
The case is modeled but it is not permanent, it is there to gauge size for certain components.
The lower case:

The gaps are to fit the triggers:

The upper case:

And also blanks for casted button caps:

I used OnShape for modelling.
That's all my progress so far!

I decided against using the display I was going to use because it will waste GPIO and can be swapped for a NTSC display, which needs only 2 of the pins to display video. This means I had to split the button board. I added another set of mounting holes to counteract the button boards spinning. I just screenshotted each board and put them together in Paint 3D and drew a screen shaped thing in the middle and is completely not to scale. The case now has another set of mounting pole things that the board slides on to. I recently got funding for the project which will greatly help me, even though the most expensive part so far will probably be like $20.

The new upper case has a larger cutout in the center to make room for the larger display.
The new lower case:

I cut a USB micro-b shaped hole in the lower case for charging. I also found a suitable mono audio amp board to control the speaker.

No, I did not realize that the last post of the lower case also had the charging hole. No, I do not care.
