Solved Trouble switching to VGA

Currently I am building the Ashida portable and am attempting to connect the video to VGA. I have the RGB and HV connections made. Though something is preventing the Wii from fully booting. When I attempt to turn it on, the screen is black and the cpu doesnt get hot but the AVE-relocation module gets really hot. I know there is a necessary short in the 'mode' connection though I believe this is causing shorts across the entire Wii preventing it from booting. I'm not sure what I need to resolder to fix this. Any ideas?

*Note* I know my soldering is kind of rough and messy I plan on cleaning it up more once I have it working.

There are definitely a lot of places here that could be causing a short. To be completely direct, you're going to need to fix almost every solder joint on here before you can move forward, as almost every single one is cold. You need to use more flux (and possibly more heat, 345C / 650F is a good temp for me). The ideology of "I'll fix the solder joints when it works" is the wrong mentality; you need to fix the joints before you try anything else.

Moving from there, might I ask why you're using an AVE relocation flex on an OMGWTF that retains the original AVE, which is also going in an Ashida?? You shouldn't need that relocation at all. From what I'm seeing though, it looks like maybe you were trying to solder to the H/V pins on the original AVE and couldn't get it; if there are any solder bridges there, that could potentially be the source of your problems.

I also saw this on your first pic, it looks like a solder blob gone rogue:

For the rest of the pics, the story is pretty much the same: Cold solder joints and tons of flux residue. Clean that sucker up with some IPA, add some flux and reflow the joints!

I'm still not understanding the AVE flex, if you can't get the original AVE to work, it's better to address that directly than try to blanket it with the flex.

So, I removed the AVE-relocation and re-soldered some of the joints. The Wii boots but is not displaying video, currently the screen turns on and is blue for a bit then goes black and does nothing else. I'm unsure what this means but my guess is that something in the video isn't wired properly. My current plan is to clean the board, redo the joints on the driver board, and replace a few vias to the Wii with magnet wire, specifically, the purple wires. Are there any other fixes that could possibly help the problem?

I have resoldered and tested everything in composite to verify it turns on. Something is wrong with the VGA connection. Though I cannot figure out nor know how to find out what isn't working with the VGA connection. Any advice?

Just making sure, you are running your wires according to the RGB lettering in the guide picture, not the colour of the traces right? The colours are for YPbPr component video config, which is not the same as the RGB VGA output
