I started making a Sega Saturn Portable last year. These days, I refined the shell and used a similar blue-gray color to the JVC Saturn. I renamed it Venus S.

The idea for making it came from a video by Sega in 2020 that announced a handheld game console called Venus that was not released yet.

I calculated the other sizes based on the 3.5“LCD screen size.

I cut a Sega Saturn VA13 motherboard into 4 pieces, folded 2 pieces in half, shrunk one piece (sound card), and discarded the one with the card slot.

I redesigned the fenrir PCB so that it can be mounted between two layers of Saturn PCB

Redesigned 4M memory card and 1M/4M EXRAM card to fit snugly on the motherboard

Since the handle design of Sega Saturn is retained, a full set of buttons are used, and the height of the buttons is very high, there is a lot of space inside the shell, which is used to retain the VCD slot. The VCD card can be inserted normally after removing the shell.

Did you use Fenrir instead of Saroo because of space limitations? Also, which LCD driver board are you using-- is it CVBS or RGB?

This Venus S was started to be made in February last year, without considering using SAROO. I originally wanted to change the shell and participate in this year's "Summer Contest", but after reading the rules carefully, I found that only those completed this summer can participate, so I gave up.

The internal space of Venus S is still large. If the VCD card is removed, a SAROO card can be installed. However, a 2in1 card is already installed on the motherboard, which will conflict with SAROO. So I will not change to SAROO

In the future, I can make another one for SAROO
