Question Gameboy Advance - Won't turn on after L and R switch replacement.

I have an old GBA whose L and R buttons stopped working. I opened it up, cleaned the switches, but they were still pretty bad. They only worked 1 out of 5 presses, and the presses had to be VERY firm. So, I decided to swap out the switches for some clicky ones. Now the GBA won't boot at all... The only thing I did was desolder the L and R switches, and then solder in new ones. I recently did the same mod to a wavebird z button, and that was successful, so I kind of expected the same results with the GBA.

Any insight into what I could have done to stop it from booting? And where should I start troubleshooting? I'm pretty new to using a multimeter, so if any responses include using a multimeter it would be great if you could explain it to me like I'm a child.
