Is it safe to use this wire?

I have some left over unshielded enameled 34 awf magnet wire and was wondering if it's safe to use on a portable?

if it has enamel it should be fine to use on a portable for signal wires.

Yes, as long as it is what you described, it should be good for a portable. Consider getting an alternative color of wire if it fits your budget. It's very helpful with routing shielded wire and much more.
