Just wondering, is there any where to turn the Fuji flex off? If it's in a portable just for HDMI out could it be put into a sudo power saving mode or is it always on if voltages are connected?
There's no built-in way to turn Fujiflex off. You can add a simple circuit to power gate it based on HDMI HPD. Something like this:
HPD controls a small signal N-channel MOSFET to turn on a power P-channel MOSFET. You can short the 1.8V and 3.3V inputs and use a single PFET as shown, or use separate PFETs for 3.3V and 1.8V. (If you use separate PFETs you must ensure the Vgs(th) of the 1.8V PFET is ~1.5V or lower.)
Because sinks often implement HPD by pulling HPD to the +5V pin, you need to connect 5V or 3.3V to the +5V pad on Fujiflex for this to work.
Like loopj said, the HDMI +5V pin is almost never required for the screen driver boards we use in portables. But many TVs and other spec-obeying sinks require it. Sometimes you can get away with a lower voltage like 3.3V, which will still register as a logical high on the sink side.
yes I meant with the GC+2.0, so with a normal wii and a "normal" dualshock gamecube and the fw "gcvideo-dvi-shuriken-v3-wii-3.1-spirom-complete.bin" does it work?
because I understood that this fw accepts commands from the wii motion and not from the gamecube port, if so it means that the gcvideo does not emulate 100% the functions of the dualshock gamecube
GCVideo DVI only supports GC controllers and
generic IR remotes. Fujiflex specifically only supports GC controllers; its IR pin is stubbed. There's never been any Wiimote support in GCVideo (it would have to sniff the Bluetooth module USB lines for that).
The compatibility issues with GC+ have been around since GC+ 1.0 released 8 years ago.
GCVideo 3.0 (released in 2020) tried to fix GC+ 1.0 compatibility by making the Joybus sniffing less strict. It might still be too strict to work with GC+ 2.0. Supertazon sent Aurelio a GCVideo DVI board to troubleshoot this last year, but no progress has been made AFAIK.
Because of this, most people install and configure their GCVideo prior to trimming. If you absolutely need OSD access on your portable, consider an alternative controller replacement solution. Maybe a Phob or WavePhoenix (when it releases) would work?
