I've decided to finally star keeping a worklog if the ashida I've been working on for the last year. I've technically already completed it once but is didn't reach the standard I wanted and it stopped working. The main reason I've started this thread is to have a single place to post all my questions.

So recently I've been trying to test for composite video but all I get is a blue screen that says vga in the corner, even though there are no wires hooked up for vga. Mode is currently not connected to 3.3v. (The first time I'd finished the Ashida I'd gotten vga working but then it stopped once I reopened the wii to fix a sound wire that had come loose.) Any clue what could be causing the issue? All my wiring is correct and continuity is good. Could I have killed part of the wii? (Sound still worked after vga stopped working before I decided to restart)

Looks good, but the reason why your screen says VGA is because you have to switch it to AV mode manually if that's what you want.

Go to screen driver board and switch it to AV mode. You can make a button with one end on ground and the other on the button the screen driver board. I think K5 is source if you have the blue driver board.

Ok that's good to know, I had no clue you had to do that manually but it makes a lot of sense.

Good news, I got it switched to AV. Bad news, still no video output. I went and double checked voltages while it was running, and those were all fine. I've ordered another wii just in case, but if anyone can come up with any other possible fixes, that would be appreciated. It really sucks because everything else on the wii is working fine.

Post some pictures of your current setup (trim, wiring to the PMS and screen), etc. etc.
Did you sand properly and check your resistances prior to wiring everything up? Again, I don't know what your setup looks like right now, but it should only consist of the trim, screen, and PMS (and batteries ofc). Keeping the amount of wiring to a minimum helps diagnose the issue at hand.

Here's the link to my resistances, they changed between the first time I built this, and this time, (especially at 3.3v) but user Stitches said that it should be fine.
Just wondering, but would it still read the correct voltage from the wii (in this case 3.3v) if it had a short?
I'll try to upload photos soon.
If there was a short, the shorted voltage would read at half the expected voltage or less

In that case, there are no shorts.
edit: (At least with any of the voltages.)

So I got a new wii and am working on installing rvLoader but I keep getting the error : Error 6 cannot open scripts/topbar.lua: No such file or directory.
However when I go to rvloader/themes/main/scripts the topbar.lua file is still there. Any clue on how to fix this? Am I doing something wrong?
Edit: Upon further testing it seems to be the entire theme file that's having problems, because it will occasionally say that the theme or scripts folder is missing or background.lua, even though all of these files are also there.

Could be several things. Reformatting the drive and downloading fresh files might do it. Otherwise, make sure you have two ground wires between the Wii and your regs and double check your USB data wires

I'd already reformatted it once, but this time I used guiformat and it worked. Thanks Stitches.

I got vga wired up. Which video wires would I have switched up if I'm getting blue instead of white?
Edit: Also gonna add this question here. Will it work if you use the mx chip from a different wii?

I managed to fix my video lines and get this thing closed up. When running games it works just fine, however it tends to freeze while I'm in reloaded, making it really hard to configure gc2wiimote or change the settings. Any clue on what could be causing this issue and how to fix it?

I came back to this project after completely disassembling my ashida yet again, and pleasantly learning that I hadn't killed my pms, there had just been a short.

I'm hung up though at attaching the scw and sdw wires. When neither are attached, or I have either of them attached individually (or if they're voth attached vut reversed), it boots fine. However when they're both attached it flicks away from the blue vga screen for a moment as if it's about to boot, but then goes back to the blue vga screen and does not boot from there.
Does anybody have a clue as to what could cause this?

EDIT: The only other issue I'm having is that the sound isn't working at all, speakers or headphones, even though that is all wired up as well. Could there possibly be a problem with the uamp, which would cause the problems with scw and sdw as well as no sound?

It turns out that I'd forgotten to hook up 1.8v from the motherboard. It now all works. I'll have to use it a bit more to make sure no more issues come up.

I forgot to take a photo of the insides, so I'll make sure to get that if I do have to open it back up to fix anything. I'd say it's almost perfect, except for the fact that when I tried to use alcohol to wipe some dirt off the back, it didn't seem to like mixing with the paint, and now it has white smudges over it. (I need to remember that not everything's a circuit board do alcohol wont always work. ) Hopefully I'll find a way to fix that though.
