Hi all,

I am trying to test a 4:3 lcd for my N64HH project, but I have difficulties to figure out how to connect it with my VDC-NUS. I've seen images of AVDC and MAV-NUS which apparently have a video out, but I have a VDC, which seems to be different? That's a schematic I found for all the different chips. I tried to connect the RED GREEN BLUE to the R+, G+, B+ input of the lcd's VGA port, but that didn't do the trick. Do I need an RGB mod or what am I missing?

Sorry that was kinda stupid of me. Advanced trimming guide pointed me to the Composite output at the ENC-NUS, not at the VDC. Now it works!

But following up my question above, is composite the only option for the lcd? Would RGB be potentially better quality?

That driver board only accepts VGA (RGBHV) and composite. To use the VGA input you'll need a sync separator of some form

In my experience, that black driver board only accepts 480i and 480p RGBHV. Sync-separated 240p RGBHV did not work the last time I tried it. EDIT: video showing behavior (SNES game with 480i menus, 240p the rest of the time)

Since the vast majority of N64 titles output 240p, you're kinda forced to use a video mod like N64Advanced, UltraVGA, RetroGEM, ElectronAnalog, or Shinobi Scaler to get better video quality than composite.
