Alright.. so the Last64 wouldn't be my last 64... and the portable cycle repeats.. so now that "all" the work is already done, i thought i might do a worklog xD

I got triggered by the nice worklogs & build by @CrazyGadget @Gman and more, to get back into it. I still had a bunch of N64 boards by hand, like a PIF relocation board and even a N64Amp.

1. PIF Relocation - Failed.. hard, did another board

Well i did this akira terminator mod, gave it a little of my touch.. (didn't have any res arrays to hand)

Funfact: You need 2 caps for it to boot, 3 to make mem-exp work and 4 to keep it from crashing

with that out of the way i rocked my first rcp relocation!

oh yea, i did a ram swap, too :D ... currently i think i dont need the pif relocation anyways :P

alright, let's talk chrome!

--> N64 / 8MB / Sliminated - Check
--> Screen? 3.5" since this is a smolish boy, jo! (and there is nothing between 3.5 & 5" available)
--> RGB Adv. 2 or Pico when it rocks

Controller - I'm currently checking out this cool project & already got it working! (after fixing a major issue in the code xD)
Anyways it looks like a fancy n64+ alternative

But choom! What's with da green stuff, ya know?!

There is the "LibrePD" basically a clone of the schematic i used for power delivery in the PS2DMG
1697052832714.png

slowly getting a hang of kicad..made some fancy - totally not cloned - pad footprints, makes placing easier, access from both sides of the pcb.. also i dont need to mess with value labels anymore..

Next up the line, my interpretation of the "LibrePMS64-Slim":
1697053062428.png

wanted to make it slim, with 14x52 and only 2 layers i think it came out kinda cool

Want some fresh 3D CAD BD's, bro?!

1697053624356.png

something like this.. a little smaller then the last64.. when i would fit a 5" screen it would be exactly as big

So next up.. more (Ki)CAD i guess

The prodigal son returns! And with more custom PCBs than ever before. Looks awesome, Nold!

USB64 seems like the N64+ we've always wanted. So are you planning to transplant the components from the Teensy 4.1 onto this board?

yea, it's the "usb64+" :D

I found an example schematic & reworked it a bit.. this is the biggest "will it work"? in this order :D otherwise i'll just use the teensy 4.1 i got. but i was planing on ordering the parts for it, to build it from scratch.. hope i don't mess it up.. the BGA chip is 15$

Good News: We got a working PD & PMS :)

1698507805954.png

Sadly the PMS is still missing the 5V reg cause i bought the wrong footprint -.-''

Anyway, here are some beautyshots

1698507949970.png

JLC did a good job with the cascaded-pads.. except for the PMS where they are not plated.. (maybe i set the edge cut wrong) but doesn't matter too much for now..

Also found this cat pic on my cam..

So here is a little "update".. I've finished up some Rev.1 PCBs & designed my first flex PCB. it allows mounting two RAM chips on the n64.. so i can repair a few stock n64 boards.

But before i can order a new PCB batch i need to do some work on the PCB.. as it tourns out, my 3.5" inch screen doesn't like the PAL output of the N64... my 5" does, tho.. so i need to do some flipping fusion crashing redesin.. which i didn't really start yet :D ....

Because Baldurs Gate... and Minecraft.. and i'm a lazy bitch
