I have an Idea for a tablet like wii u, where it is the full motherboard (sans disk drive) and a modified heat sink, plus a 10 inch screen on top of it and some ssds for storage, along with all of the other default ports it comes with. you woould still use the gamepad and wiimotes like usual, bujt it would be a portableish one with a battery pack and screen so perfect for my needs

why the full motherboard? are you going to use custom regs (ie bistro/minireg)? if not, do know that 4S batteries are tricky to work with.

full motherboard just because I dont feel like trimming to the lolwut trim because I want the ports, and I dont know what else I can trim as there isnt really a good guide for a larger scope trim, for the regs I was actually going to ask about that in a bit once I have some other stuff figured out, I have no idea what im going to do for the power situation as I want to have a battery pack, and I have to regulate the voltage to I beleive 5 volts? then power the screen (which I still havent picked out yet) and find a way to safely charge it. It is very much just a concept right now but im going to use it to learn about these types of things so im ready for a challenge

You can do a similar trim to what I did for the Wii U Mini:

As for power regulation, bistro takes in 1S (~4v) batteries, and has a booster to get 5v (though it only supports 1a output).

do you have a link or a place to find bistro, also that trim is exactly what I need, I might even be able to fit the disk drive beside it now. thanks a lot

Why would you need the disk drive? They would take so much more power draw and disks are no where as reliable as just saving your games to a flash drive, which is super easy with your own Wii U using this Homebrew guide https://wiki.hacks.guide/wiki/Wii_U:Dump_Games

bistro is open source on github, but doesn't have a 12v regulator for the disc drive.

ok then im just going to go without the disk drive, does it have a way to power both the actual wii and the screen at the same time?

It has a 3v and 5v regulator, though i'm not sure if the 1a output on 5v is enough to power the screen + any USB devices you might plug in.

I might research how to split the circut into two and power the wii u through the bistro, then power the screen seperately

Two wires from the pad on the bistro.

EDIT:

Also it's worth mentioning bistro has no components for charging, so you will need to do that on a seperate board.

oh ok thanks
with the mini trim I might actually be able to shrink the screen size so thats a plus, are you planning to make a guide for that trim or something like it anytime soon?

When I finish it, maybe, but at the end of the day its just cutting the board in half, then relocating whats necessary (SMC+RTC/NANDs/5GHz/BT). WiFi still has the connector, you just need to wire TP173 to 3v3 after trimming. All pinouts for that are on the LOLWUT trim guide.

I mean when I finish the Wii U Mini project. The board mostly works fine, only issue being I have to use redNAND since I don't have the eMMC wired.

does the lolwat guide have the eMMC wiring steps on there? or is that something I would have to figure out myself?
