I have another question.

I have a 6-layer Wii, so would the Wii trimming guide still work?
I highly advise against using a 6 layer Wii. They use twice the power and produce a shitton extra heat compared to a 4 layer. You won't be able to reliably cool it the same way as a 4 layer either, and the 4layertech PMS can't supply enough power to run a 6 layer

Hi guys. I have another update.

The buttons and the breadboard arrived, so I started working on the controls. I haven't soldered it yet, but I put them in for the D-pad.

I'll do this for the ABXY also. Then I'll solder those to the board. For the joysticks I'll desolder them and reconnect them with wires.

I'll post another update when the controls are working.

Okay, after a while, I got most of the controls working!

I was able to solder wires to points on the board for push buttons, and I was also able to do it with the joysticks. This works. Here is an image:

I need to figure out something for the triggers though. Is there a way I can do a dual-tack mod to this board's trigger buttons?

I will have a 3d-printed case later, but for now I just want it to work with a cardboard one. I cut this box out to the size that I want.

I'm not sure how I'm going to have the real buttons go down on the push buttons, so I still have to think about that.

My next step after that is to find a 4-layer Wii. Where do you guys get your Wiis for projects? I'm trying to find one for pretty cheap. Maybe this one? Then, I'll trim it, and get the PCBs from 4layertech. (RVL-PMS Lite, RVL-PD, RVL-AMP) I also need to get the screen. Does anyone know when the RVL-PD will be available? I want to order all the PCBs together, so I might just wait till it comes back in stock.

Thanks in advance

Hey! I have another question/update.

I got the 4-layer Wii for $24, and it came today. I got the homebrew launcher and RVLoader. For RVLoader, I patched out wifi and enabled VGA because I want to use the 4layertech screen. After I installed RVLoader, I got a black screen. This is what I was expecting because I enable VGA, so component got messed up. My question is how do I know that RVLoader installed correctly? I want to be sure that the Wii will work after I trim it. Thanks.

IIRC you unplug whatever's in the AV socket, wait a bit, then plug it back in. Under normal circumstances that should disable the VGA patch temporarily

Okay everyone! I made some progress on the 3d print design.

***The bottom depends on how thin it will be.***

Also, I am preparing to trim the Wii! Here are my trim lines:

I have a dremel, but I don't have the special diamond parts, so those are coming tomorrow.

My next update will have the trim done.

Looks good, just make sure you don't hit these traces

Otherwise you're in for some annoying magnet wire fixing

Okay, my trim when good! I learned how to use a Dremel and trimmed some other stuff, but then I did the Wii. Here it is:

I have quite bit of sanding to do but it looks good. I'll take the tape off after that.

When doing the rough sanding, you may find it easier to put the paper on a table surface and then drag the PCB back and forth along the paper. It makes sanding off the bulk of the excess PCB quicker and gives you nice straight lines. Don't go overboard though, you need to leave some room for hand sanding with the finer grits

Hey, I just started wiring my Wii, and I have a question.

What does this part do? I kinda melted part of it and I'm wondering if it's still okay.

That’s your 1v line. It’s required for everything to work.
Check if you still get resistance and voltage through it. You may have damaged it.
Oh no, I think its messed up. I'm not getting any changes in resistance. It just stays at 1. What should I do?

Edit: I'll clean it up with desilder braid but if anyone knows anything else pls say it.

Also I have a spare Wii I can take the part from.
